Today it is my absolute delight to share with you the first of three blogs from the incredible Denise Winter Photography. Captured at the breath-taking Aviator Hotel, in Surrey these images actually made my jaw drop. A fabulous styled shoot by a brilliant team of professionals captures a real life couple. Thank you so much to all those involved for allowing me to share your outstanding work. It’s time to hand over to Denise…
There are many amazing benefits of being a wedding photographer, the foremost being you get to share and record one of the most important days of a couple’s life – you get one chance to photograph all the special moments and even after 7 years, I still feel excited and full of anticipation for each wedding I attend.
You also get to discover a great deal about people – couples and family and friends. I find the way the guests interact at weddings fascinating; from anticipation, laughter and tears, a wedding day really is an emotional rollercoaster for all involved.
Aside from the people and emotions, I have seen amazing venues from Barns and Country Houses, Tepees and marquees through to historic Royal Palaces, each one unique with their own distinctive features.
One of the venues which has always intrigued me is The Aviator Hotel in Farnborough, Hampshire. The design and architecture is more akin to a trendy central London location as opposed to a town in the North East of Hampshire.
From a wedding photographer’s viewpoint, it offers a stunning, chic backdrop with it’s iconic staircase the main focal point. The Sky bar with it’s deep shades of purple and reflective surfaces providing an area for couples looking for a fashion / editorial feel to their wedding photography.
From a prospective wedding couple’s viewpoint, The Aviator is distinctive not only in it’s architecture, style and design, but also its completely bespoke wedding day service, there is definitely nothing standard about this hotel.
Over the course of the next few days I will be posting information on The Aviator and it’s unique approach to weddings, from initial contact with their specialist wedding team, food for thought from their executive chef Luke Wheton and details of their truly bespoke “Pure” wedding experience.
I will also be posting images taken from a photo shoot within the hotel and it’s grounds. The couple in the images are a real couple: Anna and Shaun whose wedding I photographed in 2012. When the opportunity arose for this shoot, I couldn’t think of a better suited couple to compliment the style of the hotel.
Hair and Make up services were provided by the wonderfully talented Hanna at www.hannawildman.co.uk, I have had the privilege of working with Hanna for wedding, editorial and boudoir shoots, she is nothing short of genius!
Flowers were created by the immensely talented Kate at www.funkyflowers.org. From the moment I spoke with Kate about The Aviator shoot with an idea of something unique and chic, she completely understood, I was overwhelmed with the results.
Wedding dresses were provided by two independent wedding dress shops. The full gown (which I completely fell in love with – true fairytale dress) came from http://www.encore-uk.co.ukin Englefield Green, Surry. The chic one shoulder dress (this dress could’ve been made for Anna, fitted like a glove and looked amazing) came from Louise at http://chobhambrides.co.ukin Chobham, Surrey.
And lets not forget Shaun’s suit which was kindly provided by the gentleman at www.mewesofsunningdale.co.uk, who offer not only a wide range of suits to hire for weddings, Royal Ascot and dinner suits but also leisure clothes and shoes from leading brands Barbour, Polo Ralph Lauren, Gant, Timberland to name a few.
