Gem of the week ~ A Contemporary Wedding Venue with a Twist – The Pinewood Hotel

Introducing a new Wedding Venue from the Ice the Cake family, The Pinewood Hotel.  We have been ever so fortunate to have a quick chat to Jennie who is the resident Wedding Co-ordinator at the hotel and she has answered some questions that you may find interesting if you want to know a little about the venue for your own wedding.

The Pinewood Hotel in Slough, Buckinghamshire is situated in 5 acres of mature grounds with fabulous lawns.  Contemporary with a twist, The Pinewood Hotel, is for the discerning traveller, the food lover, the romantic get-away.

How long has the hotel been conducting and holding weddings?

The hotel opened back in August 2005 and we held our first wedding in 2006.

How many weddings do you hold there a year?

Our weddings each year have increased and last year we nearly held an amazing 60 weddings.  I would say the average is approximately 45 weddings per year.

How many guests can you accommodate?

For a sit down meal we can cater from anything from 30 to 110 guests seated and we have even had one wedding for a 150 guests (where they also used our Maple room which is connected to our main function room the Symak via stairs with two balconies that open up on either side.

What is your average spend on a wedding at the Hotel?

The average spend for a wedding is between £3000-£6000, we offer three different packages varying in price, but we also can make bespoke packages to the suit the couples requirements.

The food at the hotel is home-made; what is your recommended dish for a wedding?

This is down to the couples, but my preference would be a chicken dish. Although we usually encourage adventurous food, when catering for large numbers you need to keep everyone happy. For starters and desserts something classic British with a twist always goes down well.

As the wedding planner/adviser; what is your normal ‘life in a day’ during a wedding?

On the wedding day I think of myself as the ‘de-stresser’ I will try my best to make sure the Bride & Groom don’t have to worry about anything. I will make sure that the day will run as smoothly as possible and that the only thing they have to think about it treasuring all the memories that they are creating.  My day starts with me arriving and seeing the bride (if she has stayed here the night before, if not I will go straight to the function room to set up all the decorations, favours, place names. My favourite parts on the wedding day is seeing the Bride and Groom for the first time in their suit and bridal dress and showing them their room all decorated. I will stay to help make sure everything is going to plan (photographs have been taking, meal has been eaten and speeches have finished).

Do you have any tips to give to couples when looking around the Pinewood Hotel?

I am lucky to have an Ipad during show rounds where I have lots of photos saved of different wedding sets up in all the different colours. This helps the couples visualise what their day could be and look like. I love listening to their ideas of how they want their day to be and helping them to be able to make their dreams become reality. The general manager  has also set up a Pinterest page with lots of wedding ideas that’s couples can look at.
