Just under 2 years ago my lovely friend Vicky told me some exciting news… she was engaged! I was so delighted for her but then the BIG question… ‘Will you be my Maid of Honour?”. I was so shocked, excited, overwhelmed – this was going to live up to the title – it would be an honour!
As the months flew by we planned all sorts of things. I introduced Vicky to one of my favourite and more addictive Wedding resources… Pinterest! I created a board and started adding anything that I thought would suit the style that Vicky had decided to go with.
The first thing we did together was of course – Dress Shopping! We visited Anna McDonald Bridal Gallery and Vicky immediately fell in love with the wedding dress that she would end up walking down the aisle in on the day. An elegant Sophia Tolli design which fitted Vicky’s sophistication perfectly. We visited another Wedding Shop but none of the dresses gave her the same ‘sparkle’… Vicky had fallen in love and we knew then it was ‘The One’. So we went back and tried it on again 🙂
Vicky and her now husband Andy visited a Wedding Fair at The Beaumont Estate and both were overwhelmed by the ambience of the venue. With it’s regal setting and striking design it turned out to be Vicky’s Fairytale venue. The Beaumont Estate is located in Old Windsor, Berkshire; from the amazing grounds, to the incredible Chapel Room, everywhere you look there is something to make you say WOW!
Next we needed to organise the ‘essentials’. Vicky attended one of the Ice the Cake networking evenings with me and met several suppliers. From there she arranged a meeting with Melissa from The Cake Boutique and she chatted with Joanna from Charms by Joanna who she would later book to make her top table favours. She also got to play with one of Big Furry Cat‘s Fingerprint trees and loved the idea of creating autumn leaves (her colours were orange and chocolate) for an alternative guestbook so she ordered one.
I went on to introduce her to Tina from Flower Monkey – who created the most incredible designs for the wedding day – including my stunning bouquet (which smelt divine and looked absolutely beautiful). Vicky had seen the crystal bouquets from different people I’d worked with and really liked the idea of a bouquet that she could keep forever. She started chatting to Natalie at LOVE Bouquets and before we knew it a stunning design was under way.
The next thing on the list was a Wedding Photographer. Originally they had planned to have a family friend capture the day but with just a short time to go the friend was unable to attend. I emailed them a selection of our ‘approved’ Wedding Photographers and they arranged to meet up with Ian Waldron Photography. I knew they’d get on really well with Ian as he has such a fun personality, (we spent most of the day in fits of giggles) and I knew he would be able to make Vicky and Andy feel comfortable in front of the camera. They got on brilliantly and it was a pleasure to share the day with him.
Then came our Bridesmaid dresses. We visited Rachel at Butterfly Bridal Boutique in Bicester, Oxfordshire. Vicky had decided she wanted the adult Bridesmaids in a ‘one shoulder’ design and when we visited Butterfly Bridal we tried on a Dessy design and although Vicky didn’t decide straight away I could see it was a style she really liked. The dress we tried on was in Coral and a shorter length but Vicky opted for a very classy Chocolate and a full length design. There were 3 adult Bridesmaids and although we were all different heights & shapes the style worked with all of us which was fab for me being the shortie that I am 🙂
We needed accessories to compliment the dresses and who better than Princess Conchetta to create matching hair accessories. Vicky chose her side tiara design and then Liza created combs to match for the Bridesmaids – I love mine so much and will still wear it whenever I can.
So while all of this was going on I needed to get the Hen Do underway. I got straight on the phone to my lovely friends at Go Hen and they helped me put together the perfect package for Vicky. Through them I organised the hotel, cocktail making (a must on Vicky’s list) and dinner in Covent Garden. During the day I arranged for us to visit one of my favourite venues – The Swan at Shakespeare’s Globe. We had the most delicious afternoon tea whilst looking at views over the Thames. It was a really classy weekend (perfect for Vicky) and much tamer than the boys who ended up having a week long Stag Do in IBIZA!!
So on to the gorgeous day last September… The night before Vicky, her mum and I stayed at the hotel making confetti cones, eating pizza and chatting about everything. It is one of my fondest memories of the Wedding as it was such a special time to share together.
On the morning of the Wedding we went down to the restaurant and had a delicious breakfast; Vicky ate surprisingly well for a ‘nervous’ Bride to Be. But then Vic’s always been cool as cucumber unlike me (emotional wreck). We went back upstairs and started getting ready. Joyce and Hayley from Brides and Beauty arrived mid-morning and started enhancing Vicky’s natural beauty with a gorgeous ‘up do’ and flawless make up. I still have no idea where the time went because before I knew it Ian was telling me it was time to ‘lace up the dress’ and I wasn’t even changed!! Needless to say I had a quick rush to the bathroom for a quick change and was back getting Vicky ready.
From the moment we all left the room to go downstairs everything ran like clockwork. Vicky looked absolutely stunning and Andy was beaming as he greeted her at the bottom of the aisle. The room’s were both decorated beautifully with the help of Ambience Styling and some stunning displays from Flower Monkey.
The day carried on at great speed. Lovely champagne reception and delicious canapes, Jessica (my life long friend who was also a Bridesmaid) and I went off on a long search for the confetti cones as they had been moved during the ceremony to a different room but we found them – hooray! As we sat down for Dinner I was honoured again to be sitting on the Top Table – such a lovely gesture and meant I didn’t have to worry too much about Mr ITC who was merrily putting away several glasses of red wine!
After a scrumptious Dinner the evening guests arrived, the absolutely delicious cake from The Cake Boutique was cut – oh my goodness I’ve never known a cake to be completely gone… I am ashamed to say that after 4 slices I was actually eating crumbs off the platter – the Red Velvet was THAT good!
We partied into the night and as you can see Mr ITC continued to enjoy another glass or two of Vino 🙂 …
I was truly honoured to be part of their special day and felt so fortunate to bring together so many wonderful suppliers to create an exceptional Wedding day. I wish I could turn back the clock as I’d love to do it all over again but with amazing photographs to ensure timeless memories, at least it’ll be a day that will never, ever be forgotten.
Thank you Vicky for asking me to be your ‘Maid of Honour’ it was amazing fun and I’ve loved looking through the images from the day and remembering everything like it was yesterday.
A huge thank you to the members of Ice the Cake for their incredible support and exceptional professionalism throughout.
