On Tuesday 28th May 2013, I had the absolute pleasure of being invited to the Four Seasons Park Lane London, for an exclusive Website Launch party.
I arrived with Kathryn Deeley and from the moment we entered the hotel we were in awe of the opulent decor. As we walked up the luxurious staircase to the first floor we had to stop halfway. We were captivated by the magnificent chandelier which was hanging above the main Lobby; the rainbow of colours were spectacular. The event took place in the ‘Oak and Pine’ rooms and as we neared the suite we were greeted with the ambient sounds of the Dapper Dudes – a brilliant Jazz Duo.
The evening commenced with a drinks reception. Whilst Kathryn opted for a Sparkling Rosé, I couldn’t help but be drawn to a Peach Bellini (one of my favourite drinks!) – it was scrumptious. We sampled a wonderful array of the canapes, that were served by the silver service waiters. Temptations included: lobster cones, goats cheese & fig tartlets, beef and horseradish and many other delights. But we were even more taken by the incredible way the canapes were presented, on china serving bowls with a glass top. I wish I’d been able to take a photo now as it was a beautifully creative design and one that I would love to replicate myself.
The desserts did not disappoint either with chocolate caramel pops (these were AMAZING!), mini strawberry cheesecakes and gold macarons.
So what were we all doing partying away in Park Lane on a Tuesday evening? Well, we were there to support the launch of a brand new interactive wedding project. The concept is a fabulous idea and one that I hope will be warmly received by those planning their Weddings. As we chatted with wedding industry journalists, bloggers and suppliers we all waited in anticipation to find out more about this brand new website.
Alice Chorley, from Sternberg Clarke started her presentation…
Make Their Day is a new creation from high-end entertainment supplier, Sternberg Clarke. This unique project will follow the journey of a fictional bride and groom, Sarah and Garry, as they plan their September 2013 ‘wedding’. The site will go behind the scenes with a young couple planning their wedding, allowing readers to see the full wedding planning journey, rather than just the finished result.
Readers will not only have direct access and the opportunity to chat to the luxury suppliers featured on the site about all things bridal, but the wedding day choices such as which dress, cake and décor, will be decided by a reader vote.
The final event, which will set the stage for the new venture, will see Sarah and Garry “marry” in a fictional wedding ceremony at One Marylebone, on 24th September 2013 featuring all of the suppliers they visited along the way and the decisions made by readers. Their ‘wedding video’ will be posted shortly afterwards on Make Their Day, so that readers can see their decisions in action, and a lucky handful of readers will have the opportunity to attend the ‘ceremony’ and experience the spectacle, which will run like a real wedding day.
Adam Sternberg of Sternberg Clarke says: “This is a totally unique concept that will revolutionise the way brides and grooms interact with the wedding world. It gives couples the opportunity to see what real consultations with suppliers will be like, the kind of questions that they might like to ask and an insight into the various stages of wedding planning. The power to make decisions for our fictional couple lies with them, and will help them to be decisive when it comes to their own wedding day. They will have their questions answered along the way by the suppliers involved, a who’s who of the industry’s finest vendors, which, in addition to the involvement of Sternberg Clarke, includes the likes of One Marylebone, Cutture, Sassi Holford, GC Couture, Zafferano, Julia Boggio and more.”
At the end of a fabulous evening, we were lucky enough to have an exclusive tour of the Hotel by the very lovely Helen Aspinall, Events Manager at The Four Seasons Hotel. Together with Alexis from OMG I’m Getting Married we were taken up to the 10th Floor. Here we were able to see the breathtaking skyline across London and it was made even more special as we found out there had been a proposal in that very room just a few days previously. It would be the perfect place to share a meal with a loved one, but equally it’s a wonderful setting for champagne drinks with your Hen Party!
Confirmed suppliers involved in this project include: One Marylebone (venue); Cutture (stationery); Sassi Holford (wedding dress); GC Couture (cake); Sternberg Clarke (entertainment); Zafferano (catering) and Julio Boggio (photography).
