Real Wedding ~ 3 Venues, Peacock Feathers and a Delicious Chicken Tikka Masala

Last week I shared this beautiful bouquet on Facebook which had been made by the lovely Lesa at I Heart Buttons.

Little did I know the real life Bride who owned the bouquet would see my post.  With just 30 guests in attendance it is my absolute delight today to share Becky and Jason Ward’s intimate day with you…

Tell us about ‘The Proposal’…
We aren’t really a lovey dovey couple, we knew we were going to get engaged, I had got his ring especially made, and we had chosen mine together (that i then lost in a service station after losing baby weight!) but i just had to wait for the actual proposal!  I was 8 months pregnant with our son and I got up and went to walk down the stairs to put the kettle on and I saw this A4 piece of paper say ‘Louise’ on it…. i thought “who’s Louise?” so went back upstairs and all the way down he had sat and painted my name on separate papers saying “Becky” “Louise” “Cable” “Will ” “You” “Marry” “Me?” with the ring sat in the box on the mantlepiece! It was simple, but special and definitely true to us! so i went upstairs, said yes and gave him his ring snuggling back into bed for a cuddle before my eldest woke up.

How did you spend your Hen/Stag Do’s?
For my Hen Do we went to the Hilton Metropole at Birmingham NEC and we had a hot stone back neck and shoulder massage and an Elemis facial.  For Jay’s Stag he went to Portsmouth and had a bender with all of his old friends down there (its his hometown)

Where did you get married?
We had 3 Venues Birmingham Register Office on Wednesday 3rd April at 11.20am.  We then went on to our amazing local restaurant, Kismet (anyone going through Castle Bromwich should go, Milan is amazing!) for our Wedding Breakfast and then to Arden Hall’s Windsor Room for the reception.

What made you choose Peacock Feathers for your Bouquet and Buttonholes?
I decided on peacock feathers because i love them, i think they are beautiful and elegant, and they went beautifully with our plum and teal theme!

Where did you get your beautiful Dress?
My dress is a sample dress off ebay i bought 2 dresses before i found this and i had to get 11 inches taken off the bottom as it was so long!

Who were your Bridesmaids?
I had no adult bridesmaids, I just wanted my beautiful children to be part of the wedding party.

What did you eat at your Wedding Breakfast?
For our meal we had indian food!  Each guest chose one starter, one main and one side of their choice.  I had chicken Tikka starter, with Chicken Tikka Masala main and Jay had a Mixed Grill for starter and a Chicken Pathia, and the owner of the Indian brought out chips, rice and Keema Naan for us.

What flavour Wedding Cake did you choose?
We had 2 layers of vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream and strawberry preserve and the 10″ cake was ‘death by chocolate” with chocolate buttercream and chocolate ganache!

Who was your Photographer?
Our Dads were the photographers!  My Father in Law has done lots of photography courses, and my Dad was a lecturer in media at Cleveland College of Art and Design before he retired and has done quite a few films etc. So we spent the photography money on a new camera, and got them to do it!

Which song did you choose for your First Dance?
We chose Bon Jovi – All About Lovin’ You as our first dance. We are both huge Bon Jovi fans, and it was between that and Always…. Always is a popular choice and we decided we preferred All About Lovin’ You, so that was that.

What would be your top tip for a Bride to Be?
My top tip for someone planning their wedding would be to enjoy it!  Don’t stress about the little things because not everything will definitely go to plan (it was so windy we couldnt get any canal side pictures like we had hoped) and do what YOU want, don’t try to please everyone else.  It’s about you and your soul mate, nobody else!!  If they don’t like it tough, as long as you both are happy that is all that matters.

Thank you Becky & Jason.  Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness xx
