The Royal Christening of Prince George of Cambridge

The Royal Christening of Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge will take place in the Chapel Royal at St James’ Palace today at 3pm, 93 days after his birth.

George will become first member of Royal family to be christened in the chapel in 25 years and will be baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby. The service is thought to last around 45 minutes and the Godparents have just been announced – Zara Tindall (William’s cousin), Emilia Jardine-Paterson (an old school-friend of Kate’s), Hugh van Cutsem (a family friend), Oliver Baker (William and Kate’s university friend), Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton (William and Harry’s Private Secretary),  Hugh Grosvenor (the Duke of Westminster’s son) and Julia Samuel (a old friend of Princess Diana).

Little George was born on Monday 22 July at 4.24pm at the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in London. He’s currently third in line to the throne, after his grandfather Charles and father William. Decked out in a replica Honiton lace gown of that worn by Queen Victoria’s daughter Beatrice in 1841, Prince George will no doubt look very dashing!

The Royal Mint have created commemorative coins to mark the christening, from £13.00 up to £50,000 for a gold proof kilo coin!

Sending our very best wishes for a wonderful day, from all at Ice the Cake!
