I adore Sherry Hostler, owner of The Cake House in Tring, Hertfordshire. She is absolutely lovely, extremely talented and works incredibly hard at creating gorgeous wedding cake designs. So, when she messaged me at the weekend to advise that she had won a prestigious Gold Award at this years, Cake International Exhibition in Birmingham, I was absolutely thrilled for her!
Sherry said: “I wanted to come up with something that was completely different and really had the wow factor. The inspiration behind the cake came from a mixture of the unique fashion creativity of Vivienne Westwood’s designs combined with the unashamed glitz and glamour of Dita Von Teese. The cake brings to life elements of the burlesque with fish net stockings, ruffles, lacy ribbons and feathers, and it certainly proved to be eye catching at Cake International at The NEC.
It takes days and days of work to put together a cake like this one, then you have to transport it all the way to Birmingham, and wait with bated breath for the competition results to come through. It was all worth it though, as my cake was awarded a prestigious Gold Award in the Wedding Cake Category at one of the largest cake decorating events that there is. Now I just have to think of a design for next year that is even bigger and better!”
