Bridal Boutique of the Month ~ Anna McDonald Bridal Gallery, Thame, Oxfordshire

If you are looking for your perfect Wedding Dress and live in Oxfordshire, Anna, is someone that I can personally recommend.  When I was searching for my own wedding dress back in 2010, I visited Anna’s Bridal Boutique, located in the quaint market town of Thame.  Anna was so lovely and helpful, it was an absolute pleasure to try on dresses – she really did make me feel like a princess!

I found a gorgeous Wedding Dress and was ready to order, however, my budget changed and I ended up finally choosing another bridal gown made by an alternative designer.  I felt awful going back and advising her of my change of heart.  Anna was amazing and really supported me.  At the time she was selling Bridesmaid dresses and I purchased a beautiful one for my Maid of Honour.  However, all the while I wanted to be able to show how grateful I was for the kindness and professionalism, she had shown me in my search for ‘the one’.

After our wedding, I decided to launch Ice The Cake and of course, given the service I had received, Anna was one of the top wedding suppliers I wanted to shout about.  I was delighted when in 2012, my lovely friend chose to purchase her wedding dress from Anna’s bridal boutique, she looked absolutely beautiful and once again Anna’s customer service was exceptional.

If you are looking for a bridal boutique in Oxfordshire, offering a wonderful welcome, coupled with exquisite designer bridal gowns and 5 star service, then I can highly recommend a visit to Anna McDonald Bridal Gallery.  So today it is my absolute pleasure to hand over to Anna, for her top tips on choosing your wedding dress and her key trend predictions for 2014!

Who is Anna McDonald Bridal Gallery?
Anna McDonald Bridal Gallery is a leading bridal shop in Oxfordshire, providing brides with a personalised service by appointment only.  As such, customers can browse the showroom freely without other customers being present and receive expert consultation and advice from Anna and her bridal consultant staff.  Anna specialises in high quality designers providing exclusive access to Justin Alexander, Marylise, Johanna Hehir and Charlotte Balbier gowns.

Launched in July 2008, Anna spotted the gap in the local Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire market for a high quality, specialised boutique focusing on leading designers at affordable prices. Having once experienced the purchasing process as a customer, Anna felt that brides were looking for a higher quality experience throughout their entire buying process from initial contact through the website to consultation, purchase and final fitting. Thame is a vibrant market Town with local purchasing at its core and the nearest bridal shop was over 20 minutes drive from Thame.  On reflection, the majority of Anna’s customers come from outside Thame and travel from all over the country to purchase their dream wedding dress.

Anna has been on the receiving end of multiple awards from her unique iPhone app (ibridal) to her elegant store design with bespoke hand crafted cabinets and display units.  However, she strongly believes her greatest achievement is the ongoing growth and success of her boutique launched at the height of the economic downturn. She puts this down to sticking to the core principles of personalised and excellent customer service. As a result her major source of new customers is through referrals from her growing list of delighted brides.

Anna’s Top 5 Tips for Choosing your Wedding Dress

1) Always keep an open mind, the gowns you think you will not like will always transform once you put them on, it’s always good to try a wild card.

2) We know it’s the most important dress you will ever wear and you want to make sure it’s perfect, but having too many opinions will only make your decision harder, try to stick to two people.

3) Trying too many gowns on in too many shops never helps it just confuses the situation causing stress, pick two boutiques that have a varied range of designers.

4) Never let special offers or one day discounts pressurize you into buying, you have to be 100% happy.

5) It’s very important to feel comfortable and confident on your big day, so a perfect fitting gown is a must.  All boutiques should be able to offer you an experienced dressmaker to do all your tailoring and remember to included these costs into your budget.

Anna’s Key Wedding Dress Trend Predictions For 2014

High necks were very popular in 2013 and they are set to become even more popular this year.  We predict that sheer and lace high necks will continue to be popular.

Although lace will still be popular, we are seeing a move towards sparkly embellishments such as crystal belts and bodices  with crystals.

Fabulously cute, 50’s style short wedding dresses are very much back in fashion. Many designers are featuring tea length and above the knee designs.  Many designs consist of lightweight chiffon fabric with floaty layers to create a romantic look.  This style is especially ideal for chic city weddings and those travelling abroad.

Another key trend is colour!  Blushes, pastels and champagnes are leading the way.

Finally, many wedding dresses will be seen with either detachable or permanent cover ups.  Whether covered up so gowns that have long, to the wrist length sleeves and to not look so heavy will be sheer and light so not too overpowering.
