New to the Ice the Cake fold are Bridal Hair and Make Up by Nadine and Lucy. We managed to steal Lucy away from her busy schedule to chat with us about this exciting company and how they can help you to achieve your dream wedding day look…
When did you launch?
We launch in the Spring of 2013.
Where are you based?
In Wollaston, Northampton
Where did the inspiration come from?
We wanted to create a company that we would have liked to hire for our own wedding days. Where you are not just turning up and doing your bit, but helping to ensure everything runs smoothly and working together with everyone involved.
What did you both do before running your business?
Nadine has worked as a mobile hairdresser for many years after running a busy city centre salon and teaching hairdressing.
Lucy started her career at Madame Tussauds making wigs and producing the hair work on the wax figures displayed worldwide. She then went on to work on films such as Harry Potter and Wolfman which gained an Oscar for its make up department. Lucy continues to work for Madame Tussauds in a freelance capacity.
What services do you offer?
As our previous experience and training is so wide-ranging we are able to offer all aspects of hair and make up and work with you to create a look that is uniquely yours for your special day. We can provide hair and make up for weddings, proms, photo shoots and parties and are also able to offer tattoo coverage, hair extensions and make up lessons.
What has been your biggest achievement?
Our biggest achievement to date is making sure all our brides and bridal parties are more than happy with what we have created together enhancing their special day.
What do you love about weddings?
Being allowed to be part of a brides special day.
Who inspires you?
Our brides inspire us with their unique style.
What is your pearl of wisdom for a Bride to Be planning her wedding day?
Always make sure you have a trial with your hair and make up at the same time if possible, as otherwise you are unable to appreciate how the two work together and how you will look on your big day.
Tell us a secret?
The favourite part of my wedding outfit was my sequin covered converse trainers they not only looked amazing poking out from under my dress. But made sure I was able to dance the night away in comfort and really enjoy myself.
What is your favourite wedding look to have worked on?
As all our brides looks are unique to them I don’t think we could pick just one. We aim to create a look that incorporates the brides own style, not a look that we impose.
What trends did you see in 2013 and what do you think is in store for 2014?
In 2013 most brides were asking for a very soft, natural look. In 2014 brides are being a little bolder and asking for a splash of colour in the lip colour they choose or hair accessories they select.
Nadine and Lucy would be honoured to be part of your wedding day. Best of luck with your planning, and don’t forget to enjoy every second!
