Gem of the Week ~ Treasured Bridal

We have a gorgeous company to introduce you to this week…Treasured Bridal! Owners Katherine and Lucy explain how they got started and share some fabulous secrets and tips…

When did you launch?
We launched in May 2013 so it’s nearly our 1st birthday
Where are you based?
We are based in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, tucked away on the Grovebury Industrial Estate. A hidden ‘Gem’ of the Week!
Where did the inspiration come from?
We were two new mums with a shared dream of setting up a business that would work around our families. We both had wedding dresses sitting in our attics and recognised a gap in the market for a local bridal boutique with a difference. We also recognised that in today’s economy budget is key, especially for an important, expensive occasion such as your wedding. So we set up Treasured Bridal – a bridal boutique specialising in ex-sample and pre-loved wedding dresses and accessories. You can walk away with an exquisite, designer wedding dress at an incredible price.
What did you do before running your business?
Katherine has a degree in Fashion Design and has worked in Bridal Wear on and off since age 16. She has been lucky enough to work alongside highly esteemed Bridal Designers such as Donna Salado. Lucy has a background in customer service and sales. Her career has centred around the travel industry but always in a customer facing position.
What services do you offer?
Although we specialise in ex-sample and pre-loved wedding dresses and accessories, our belief is that buying a pre-owned gown should be no different to buying a new one. We offer you a dedicated one-to-one appointment in our boutique with lots of help on hand, plus a glass of bubbly or a cup of tea. We also offer a full alterations service, and can dress the bride on her wedding day should she want this extra peace of mind.
What has been your biggest achievement?
Our biggest achievement is probably helping a bride find the dress of her dreams when she had had a bad experience looking for dresses previously. We were able to turn what was becoming an extremely stressful and upsetting experience into an afternoon of laughs, (happy) tears, and a bride who couldn’t take the huge smile off her face. When she put her dress on she transformed before our eyes!! Magical!

What do you love about weddings?
Weddings bring families together and we are lucky enough to be part of the exciting, and often emotional journey in the run-up to their special day.

Who inspires you?
All the fellow wedding suppliers we have met so far – the support and encouragement has been amazing!
What is your pearl of wisdom for a Bride to Be planning her wedding day?
When choosing your wedding dress don’t just try on dresses you think might suit you or because you’ve seen it in a magazine. Be open to trying different styles and shapes – you may find your dream wedding dress is a total surprise (and this is quite often the case!)
Tell us a secret?
To celebrate our first birthday we are offering 50% off accessories for any bride who buys a dress from us in May 2014. Quote IcethecakeMay
What is your favourite style of dress?
We see so many different styles of dress it is hard to choose but any dress by Justin Alexander!
What trends did you see in 2013 and what do you think is in store for 2014?
2013 was all about Lace, Lace, Lace. 2014 has seen more brides asking for covered shoulders, tulle and a bit of sparkle.
