Christmas Treats for 26th December – I Heart Buttons

I have ready made bouquets for sale in my shop or I can make one to order. I work with many designers who can make bespoke pieces to add to the bouquets, whether it is ceramic buttons or lampwork beads. Please contact me to discuss your requirements. I also make matching buttonholes, bridesmaids and flowergirl bouquets, table centrepieces.

Who are Signature Flowers?

Signature Flowers was established when I began my Level 4 Floristry training in September 2010 and my specialism is bespoke wedding flowers in Bucks.
Prior to this I had experience working in two very different shops where I learnt a lot. I have been lucky enough to learn from some great tutors and have seen a lot of European designers as well, which is great for inspiration.

Where are you based?
I am a studio based florist in Quainton, however am very flexible when it comes to meeting clients and am happy to meet somewhere more convinient to them. All bridal consultations are by appointment so we are not disturbed and the focus is entirely on the couple’s special day.

What types of flowers do you create?

Nothing is unacheivable – any picture or design can be replicated or you can have something designed especially for you, whether simple but stunning or bright and eccentric Signature Flowers will and can create your dream flowers.

What is your greatest achievement?
My greatest acheivment is completing my ICSF Level 4 certificate in Floristry at the age of 22. I am now studying for a Master Diploma in Professional Floristry.

What do you have available for Christmas?
For Christmas we have stunning table designs, gift bouquets, wreaths, garlands, swags and accesories all freshly made to order. For Christmas weddings beautiful bouquets can be made with soft and warm wool, or pussy willow handles. Christmas Treats for 15th December – Giftbox Galore

Who is Gift Box Galore?

<!–[if !mso]> st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } <![endif]–>

Gift Box Galore is a family run business based in West Lothian, Scotland.
Our idea to set up Gift Box Galore came to light in 2010. Time after time we would search for gifts for many different occasions and we could never really find exactly what we were looking for.
We started to create our own gift boxes when a friend or family member had a special occasion to be celebrated, we always got a great response and everyone would comment on what a great idea a gift box was.
After many suggestions were made we should sell gift boxes professionally we decided this would be an exciting and enjoyable business venture to embark on!
As a new business we are continually thinking of new ideas and plan to keep adding to our gift box collections. Both partners have a number of years experience in customer service and pride ourselves on ensuring our customers are left satisfied with their purchase and all dealings with us.
Where are you based?
Armadale, West Lothian Scotland

Christmas Treats for 10th December – Putnoe Cakes

Who is Putnoe Cakes?
Putnoe Cakes was formed in March 2011 by myself. I have always enjoyed making and decorating cakes and started out standing on a stool at the worktop helping my Mum! I’ve been making and decorating celebration cakes since I was a teenager. I trained and qualified as a chef on leaving school and worked in some of the London hotels. I then married and had two sons. While my sons were small I made many birthday cakes for friends and family I then went into office work and ended up as an accountant. In January this year I decided that ‘enough was enough’ with the boys through University and doing their own thing it was time for me to do what I really enjoy and Putnoe Cakes was born!

Where did the company name come from?

The name Putnoe Cakes came from my eldest son. We live in an area of Bedford called Putnoe, and Putnoe Cakes just sounded right. It’s easy to remember for local people and says where I’m based and what I do.

What kinds of cakes do you make?

I make cakes of all descriptions. I particularly enjoy making and decorating the larger cakes.

What is your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement was making my eldest son’s wedding cake in July this year and setting up my business.

What items do you have available for Christmas?

I have Christmas cakes from 4″ square upwards available for Christmas. I am offering not just the traditional fruit cake but chocolate fudge and madeira as well. I am also offering a baking service for family favourites!

How can people contact you?

People can get in touch via email: alison.tree@me.com or by phone: 07885 386879 or via my website www.putnoecakes.co.uk or indeed via Facebook and Twitter.

What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
On Christmas Eve afternoon my best friend and I usually go for a long walk finishing up at one of our houses to share a glass or three of wine, it’s always lovely to have this time together as the ‘calm before the storm’. I love having the whole family together round the table enjoying a lovely meal, and I always have a real Christmas Tree, I love the smell as you walk into the room.

Special Offer

I will be offering 10% discount on all wedding cakes booked during January and February.

A Message from Alison…

I like to think I’m friendly and approachable and am always willing to discuss a cake that”s a bit out of the ordinary, in short I like a challenge something that pushes my out of my comfort zone

Christmas Treats for 9th December – Beckis Bits & Bobs

Introducing Becki’s Bits & Bobs...

Why I started: My friend and I came up with the idea of clothes customisation, however she had to back out for personal reasons, and I was left with this idea that had potential, but wasn’t sure what to do with. I started looking into other handmade custom ideas and quickly found that making jewellery was something that came quite naturally to me. I left behind the clothes customisation idea, as I was much better at jewellery, and it is easier for the customer.

What I do: I create custom handmade jewellery and accessories – I started with clay, plastic and beads, and I have recently started working with silver and gold too. I like to try to accomodate for everyone – and my custom designs will almost always cost around the same price as stock designs, as I work on a time spent / material cost basis.

Where are you based?
Portsmouth, Hampshire.

What types of gifts do you make?
Jewellery and Accessories: Necklaces, Earrings, Bracelets (Charm and plaited), Badges/Brooches, Keyrings, Phone Charms, Rings, Hairclips/Slides, Tiara’s, Cufflinks.
All my items can be customised, and I love to create totally custom orders too!

What is your greatest achievement so far?
Within my business: Probably my first gold order, which was a charm for a wedding present: http://beckisbitsandbobs.co.uk/images/gold-bb-charm-testimonials.JPG it took quite a while to make, but I learnt a lot, and the customer was super happy with it too! Although I would say that this page: http://beckisbitsandbobs.co.uk/testimonials.php shows my greatest achievements – getting it right for my customers will always feel amazing, so I love it when I hear back from them – makes me feel very proud. 🙂

What do you have available for Christmas?
Anything and everything (as far as time permits!) – All the designs on my website, plus anything you can think of for a custom order. I have quite a few collections that are inspired by TV shows or books etc which are quite popular, (Doctor Who and Harry Potter) and I also do photo jewellery and accessories, which is great as a unique present.

How can people get in touch with you?
You can email me: workshop@beckisbitsandbobs.co.uk,comment on my facebook
page: http://www.facebook.com/beckisbitsandbobs or tweet at me:
http://www.twitter.com/beckisbitsbobs

What do you love about Christmas?
The feeling of being able to just stay at home and relax, and watch movies on TV without worrying about things that I should be getting on with!

Do you currently have any special offers?
I’m running a special offer on my facebook page for free postage:
http://www.facebook.com/beckisbitsandbobs/posts/299181840110932 and I’m also running the advent calendar on my website too: beckisbitsandbobs.co.uk/advent-calender-2011.php – where you can be in with a chance of winning £25 worth of my jewellery. The first few boxes have already been re-closed, but everything will be open again on the 25th December.

Any other comments…
Just that for me, Christmas is about helping each other out – I truly believe that you should shop handmade and local and help out the small businesses while getting an awesome, and usually totally unique, present that has been made with care and love.

Christmas Treats for 6th December – Engrave-a-Lot

Who is Engrave-a-Lot?

Engrave-a-Lot is a brand new small business I have set up myself after being made redundant. It was formed in Jan 2011 but has really only been running since July 2011. I carry out all the hand engraving myself in a shed in my back garden, and I really am a one woman band! From sourcing new products to engrave, to thinking of new designs, marketing, accounts and making the tea is all my own work!

Where are you based?
I am based in Welham Green a small village near Potters Bar in Hertfordshire, however most of my engravings are posted out to clients who can be anywhere in the country. I am still waiting for my first international buyer! – We hope you don’t have to wait too long!

What types of gifts do you make?

I engrave pretty much anything made of glass from decanters to wine glasses and photo frames to coffee mugs and because the engravings are individual & personal they make ideal gifts that show you have put some thought into a present and not just recycled some smellies! My range of glassware covers all budgets from just £5 to £100!

What is your greatest achievement so far?
To date my largest single order was for a company who had 200 glasses from me to commemorate a royal visit, each of their employees was given either a champagne flute, whiskey glass or pint tankard and the company even sent one to the royal visitor afterwards as a thank you present for him! My biggest achievement however is more to do with my own development, getting the business up and running, dealing with the unexpected issues that crop up and enjoying what I do every day!
What do you have available for Christmas?
From very elegant large glass baubles with T lights inside to chunky glass Father Christmas Faces that the children love, I have developed a range of Christmas decorations that are all hand engraved with either patterns or messages. Most can be personalised with names and are truly unique, as each item is engraved by hand no two items are ever exactly the same even without names added, and they make your tree look stunning.

How can people get in touch with you?
I have a website where items can be bought directly via the online shop, or call / email me to discuss personal requirements in more detail, I am only too happy to talk people through the options. Website: www.engrave-a-lot.co.uk Tel: 01707 269269 / 07862 721261 email: philippa@engrave-a-lot.co.uk I also have a facebook page (Engrave-a-lot) and I am on twitter as @engrave_a_lot

What do you love about Christmas?
Family and friends is what Christmas is all about for me. To be able to spend dedicated days just being together without the pressure of having to rush off to work, school, shopping, no activities that my son needs to attend etc etc. It is a time where we can just relax without feeling guilty about not doing anything constructive!! Good old fashioned quality time together! Ahhhh.

A Message from Philippa
Although I am concentrating on Christmas at the moment, a lot of my work is suitable to give as wedding presents and as gifts for grooms men / bridesmaids etc. My glass bauble T light holders make gorgeous room decorations and can be engraved with the name of the bride and groom / date making lovely keepsakes! So remember a gift of glass is not just for Christmas!

What is your greatest achievement so far?
Ooo have to break this one down into two parts:-
Firstly, having two beautiful children, it is an amazing experience and although at times exhausting I wouldn’t change a thing about them. They are both gorgeous in their own special ways!
Secondly, driving the company beyond all expectations. I set it up to pay for the girls education as we lost out to our local state school, thanks to the boundary laws in Buckinghamshire. They attend a great private school and my team pay for it. I have a fantastic group of people (predominantly mums) who are like an extended family. There is a real network within the company and everyone genuinely gets on and helps each other – it is very humbling to be in such a fantastic position/
What do you have available for Christmas?
Because our gifts are bespoke our cut-off date for jewellery was the 1st December but you can order our 3d/2d items until the 9th December. We also offer our gift vouchers which can be purchased on-line. The beauty of our gift vouchers is that we email them to the client so they can print them out – so no last minute worries that it will not arrive in time for that special day!
How can people contact you?
Visit our website http://www.precious-memories.co.uk to see our range of products and Meet The Team Page to see if you have a local artist near to you. Our jewellery can be done via mail-order. You can also follow us on Facebook which has over 1,200 followers to-date :- https://www.facebook.com/PMemories
What do you love about Christmas?
Personally – The belief that Savana my 4 year old believes that Santa is still around and the hand-made gifts both my girls like to make for me and their dad from school. Business based – knowing that so many people will be opening gifts made by my team and will then treasure their Precious Memories for many years to come.
A Message from Glenda…
The company is growing and if anyone is considering a change in the new year, then maybe Precious Memories is for them. Jewellery Agents can join for £150 and 3d and 2d Franchises are £1,200 including VAT, but payment plans are available. The job enables you to work around family commitments, create something truly magical and have fun.
