Introducing Ray Lloyd Photography

In January we ran a competition to find the Wedding Photograph of the Year and today it is my pleasure to introduce you to the Overall Winner… Mr Ray Lloyd

Who is Ray Lloyd Photography?
A mostly self-taught photographer, starting my career in the printing industry then local newspapers as a feature photographer.  Worked with the Rank Organisation shooting film premiers and celebrity gigs and then studio & location photography for international companies like Panasonic, Fisher Price Toys and 3M.  Now taking the easy life with general PR photography and weddings.
What influences your photography?
The challenge of taking a photograph that provokes curiosity.
What would you call your ‘style’?
Extremely laid back yet still keeping control of the situation.
Who inspires you?
The early great photographers, Ansell Adams comes to mind.  His landscape photography is mind-blowing.

If you could photograph anyone in the world who would it be?
David Beckham
What is your greatest achievement?
In photography, having one of my martial arts sports pics used on promotional posters all over the world.  In life, being the Club Captain at my Golf Club and getting a Hole-in-One during my year of captaincy.

Why did you choose to submit this particular photo for the competition?
My newspaper days taught me that women, children and animals sell newspapers (and win competitions!)
How did you feel when you found out that your photo had not only won your category but that you were the overall winner?
Absolutely delighted and very proud.
The Winning Photo!
If you weren’t doing this job what do you think you would be doing?
Marine Biologist
How do you spend your time when you are not working?
Playing golf, travelling to exotic countries and scuba diving.

What do you enjoy most about photographing Weddings?
99% of the time I am amongst happy people, having an enjoyable time.
A message from Ray…
In life, as in photography, you only get one chance – take it!
